We wrapped up a full day with a meaningful visit to the Oslo Chamber Choir and their director, Håkon. Despite their busy rehearsal schedule, they graciously made time to meet with us—a gesture we deeply appreciated. I had the opportunity to personally thank them for their generosity and their continued support of the Minot State University & Oslo Chamber Choir Apprenticeship Program.
It was clear that Christina Larsen, our first apprentice, made a lasting impression—not only did she thoroughly enjoy her time with the choir, but the members couldn’t say enough good things about her. We’re confident that Megan Kramer, our 2025 apprentice, will build on that legacy. She’ll remain in Oslo for an additional week after we return home this weekend, continuing her experience with the choir.
As a token of our gratitude, we presented Håkon with Atypical’s award-winning Gin & Spruce beer and a gift bag of MSU/Minot swag. The Oslo Chamber Choir members pinned on their Minot State University buttons, and the rest of the evening was filled with heartfelt conversation, laughter, and sincere expressions of thanks.
As if there wasn’t enough to be grateful for, my good friend Carlos, came to see me. The last time we were together was in graduate school at The University of Notre Dame in 2017. Nearly ten years later, it was so heartwarming to see him and to feel his energy. I had no idea he was here in Oslo… what a wonderful night!
